In a candid interview with Vogue magazine, Sofia Vergara revealed that she is currently taking fertility medications in preparation for freezing her eggs. She and her younger boyfriend, 37-year-old Nick Loeb, would like to start a family.
Vergara, whose character Gloria recently gave birth on the hit sitcom Modern Family, told Vogue that she had to be careful what she ate in preparation for freezing her eggs.
She said: “They want to get as many eggs as they can because usually you produce them but they’re not good. They have to be perfect, perfect, perfect ones."
A woman's fertility does start to decline signfiicantly at age 35. With egg freezing, the best outcomes are for women who freeze their eggs before age 35; however, most fertility clinics individualize the procedure based on a woman's FSH and AMH tests.
Vergara has a 21-year-old son from a previous marriage.
